The new Harley-Davidson® Smart Vest seamlessly blends comfort and style with cutting-edge airbag protection, ensuring riders have peace of mind on the road. Utilizing the renowned D-air® technology from Dainese, the Smart Vest is engineered to instantly deploy during a collision, providing impact absorption to the chest and central back areas.
Dainese's D-air technology, backed by over 30 years of research, features sensors that monitor the rider's surroundings over 1,000 times per second, processing data in real time. The airbag activates upon impact, covering the chest and central back, and forming a seal with the rider’s helmet. The system is powered by a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 26 hours and charges via a standard USB plug.
Available in both Men’s (P/N 98017-24VM, sizes S to 2XL) and Women’s (P/N 98021-24VW, sizes XS to 2XL), the Smart Vest is crafted from black heavyweight perforated cowhide leather for ventilation and has stretch side panels for added comfort. Features include zippered handwarmer pockets, 3M™ Scotchlite™ Black Carbon reflective material for enhanced nighttime visibility, and embossed Harley-Davidson branding across the back shoulders. Its slim design minimizes bulk, allowing it to be worn under or over a riding jacket (ensure about two inches of space if worn underneath).
An indicator light on the left chest displays the vest's status. When zipped and the snap-tab power switch is engaged, the light indicates battery status and flashes blue when the vest is ready to deploy. The vest also vibrates to signal readiness. It activates upon detecting the vibration of a running motorcycle engine or speeds exceeding 6.2 mph (10 kph), ensuring it does not deploy from a simple fall. If deployed, the airbag and gas generators must be replaced by an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer.
