Thieves Smash Through Taylor Store, Stealing Over $100,000 in Harley-Davidson Bikes

In a swift and brazen heist, five thieves broke into Motown Harley-Davidson in Taylor, Michigan, stealing high-end motorcycles valued at over $150,000. The burglary, which occurred just after midnight on Thursday, was captured on security cameras as the thieves smashed through a service door.

"They knew exactly where they were going and what they wanted," said Jon Gale, the general manager of the dealership. "In less than two minutes, they were in and out."

The stolen bikes include some of Harley-Davidson’s top models from their 2024 lineup. The thieves made off with two off-road Glide CVO Road Glide ST limited production models, among other high-end machines.

As they fled, one of the stolen bikes tipped over, triggering a security mechanism that caused it to stall. "Fortunately, we still have that bike," Gale noted. "However, they did get away with a white CVO Road Glide ST and a Street Glide in Whisky Fire color."

The theft left behind a trail of damage, with one thief adding to the destruction by forcing another stolen bike through a door. The dealership is now assessing the full extent of the damage, which includes both the stolen bikes and property damage.

"We’re looking at around $150,000 in damages, not including the stolen bikes," Gale said. "These bikes are often dismantled and sold for parts around the world, which is the biggest issue we face."
