After abandoning its “More Roads” strategy in 2021, Harley-Davidson introduced the Icons Collection, a limited-production line celebrating iconic motorcycles and historic designs. Each model is produced once in limited numbers and priced reasonably, honoring significant motorcycles or technologies from Harley’s past.
The 2024 FLI Hydra-Glide Revival is the latest addition to the Icons Collection, marking the 75th anniversary of the 1949 Hydra-Glide suspension. This suspension was notable for its hydraulic telescopic fork, a significant departure from the previous springer front end. At its unveiling during Daytona Bike Week, we discussed the new model with Director of Motorcycle Design Bjorn Shuster before taking it for a ride up the coast.
Styled after the 1956 Hydra-Glide, the Revival features nostalgic design elements on a Heritage Classic base. Shuster emphasized that the Icons bikes celebrate a time period rather than replicate a specific model. The Revival includes postwar industrial design elements, a two-tone red and white paint scheme, and a classic medallion tank badge. Other vintage-inspired features include a drum-look front brake cover, a Screamin’ Eagle Hi-Flow air cleaner, and period-style fonts and badges.
Despite its retro appearance, the Hydra-Glide Revival is based on the modern Heritage Classic, powered by a Milwaukee-Eight 114ci V-twin engine. It boasts a 49mm Showa fork, modern disc brakes, and minimal electronics, maintaining a balance between nostalgia and contemporary performance.
The Revival’s styling and comfort make it a standout, drawing attention wherever it goes. Limited to 1,750 units, each priced at $24,999, the 2024 Hydra-Glide Revival blends the best of Harley’s heritage with modern engineering, promising to be a highly sought-after addition to any collection.
